Background:
Dr. Hayashi specializes in quantitative psychology and psychometrics. That is, he is interested in quantitative methods frequently used in psychology and social sciences. Especially, he studies latent variable models that include factor analysis and structural equation modeling (SEM). He is also interested in Bayesian methods (i..e., methods combining prior information with current data) applied to factor analysis and SEM. Furthermore, Dr. Hayashi has interests in multivariate statistics in general and more recently developed techniques such as hierarchical linear model (HLM) and item response theory (IRT).
